Dear Parent/Carer,
Once more, I hope in these difficult times that you and your families are as well as they can be under the circumstances. I am writing today with some further updates during the continuing Coronavirus crisis.
Firstly, I would like to inform you that in order to support our families and the national effort in tackling the virus, we will be remaining open on Friday May 8th which you are probably aware is a bank holiday.
Secondly, I also wanted to clarify that until further notice, we remain open only to students classed in government guidance as “children of keyworkers” or “most vulnerable”. We remain open to the relevant groups between 8.45am and 1.30pm on Monday to Thursday and 8.45am and 12.15pm on Friday.
At present, we continue to await more detailed guidance from the government about when this criteria for opening might change. You may have seen in the news yesterday that the prime minister has indicated that next week, he intends to publish a “road map” for how the country will eventually exit the lockdown period, including how this will affect schools. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has added this week that when schools do re-open, this will take place in a “phased manner” and that “all schools returning on day one with a full complement of pupils would not be realistic.” He also told the Education Select Committee this week that the date for opening would depend on scientific advice – but schools would get “as much notice as possible”.
Finally, further to the recent letters we have sent out regarding school work and Careers guidance, we also wanted to:
- Let all students know that they can now access the Services for Education Online Learning Platform for Music on the “Learning From Home” section of our website at: theedgeacademy.co.uk/learning-at-home/ ; this contains a link to around 450 videos made to support learning on all musical instruments/vocals at any stage of learning. This can also be accessed at: www.sfeonline.co.uk (username theedgeac, password BaTHrcvD)
- Remind all students that they need to put “Office 365” into a search engine to access their new school email accounts. They should then put in the username and password that school has sent through to them.
